A poem I wrote while feeling the burden of work, of endless routine, and the dark drudgery of life.
Routine
Somewhere lost around
The pain of life and the pain of dreams
Lost, ne’er to be found
Am I. And where are you?
I see the trapped dew beneath the leaf
Making its life for a single breath
Past it I tread, ever onward
This toil I once welcomed, I dread.
The sweat in my eye clouds my sight
Now I can see no longer.
Down into darkness, my feet take me
And though I once praised it, it’s death.
Rise from your slumber, you’ll say
Break the bonds around you.
I’ll stare at the ground, and near me’s the mound
Of dirt that shall cloak my failure.
