There is a trail that takes you through a long and abandoned train tunnel in the town I used to live in. As you reach the middle it becomes so dark your senses warp and it's hard to calibrate your movements. The only thing you can see is the small light at the end that continues to grow larger as you approach it. At the very top of the path there are large water pipes. Unless there has been rainfall you will usually find them dry. They open up to a beautiful view of the valley below. Not a lot of people know about this spot and the numerous times I have taken this journey to this viewpoint has left me in awe. I find so much comfort in the silent sounds of nature.
