First, thank you to everyone making talkingpoint.co a success so far. My main goal with this project is more about bringing new users to a place where they can share their opinions freely without fear of censorship. Getting tokens as rewards, is fun, but definitely secondary for me. It's only been a few days (and a few months behind the scenes), but I'm liking what I am seeing so far.

But, I know a lot of people like getting the tokens.

So I thought I would share my very simple rubric about what contents gets an upvote from me.

I open up talkingpoint.co when I turn on my computer and check out the New tab. I scroll down and open up everything that looks related to politics. We get some news, social commentary, and meta-news-narrative kind of posts as well, which I'm not that interested in. Then I start upvoting from neal.point@neal.point.

  • Original Content: These posts are 100% original by the authors and might be any combination of text, image, or video. if it's original and about politics, you'll get an upvote from me.
  • Curated Content with Commentary: These posts are links or images of other sources like news articles, tweets, and so on, and then have your own original commentary added to the post.
  • Comments: In my dream for TalkingPoint, engaging discussions happen regularly. May each post generate a thousand comments. To reward that behavior, comments that are on-topic (e.g. no bots or !popcorn commands or "good job!") will get my vote. You can see the back and forth between me and preparedwombat on some of my recent posts as an example. I don't care whether you agree or disagree with me, you'll still get a POINT vote. To be clear, I will upvote comments on all posts, not just my own.

And that's about it.

The easiest way to get my vote is to comment on someone's post. It's far easier than writing your own post!

Right now I'm voting at about 2% power. That's roughly equivalent to one 80% vote from a normal user, and I can hand out loads of them every day. I may change the weighting over time depending on how the overall stake evolves.

If I missed your post or comment, put it in the #post-links channel in the discord at https://discord.gg/G5JJFPD

If I am not upvoting your content, you are probably:

  • Copy/pasting news published elsewhere without commentary
  • Writing in a language I can't read
  • Already getting nice sized votes

Please Note: This is just my own set of guidelines and does not represent talkingpoint.co as a whole, uppoint, unpoint, the President, The Department of Homeland Security, or any of the Senators.
