Hey everybody, the ghost train guy would've used a ghost train

Be me, a few weeks ago, walking near a railway track, when I hear the very distant beep of an approaching train sounding it's horn.

About a half hour later, back at the place I was staying, the train finally rolls through town.

I was walking with a couple of people at the time, and they didn't hear the beep, which got me thinking...

Thinking about what could possibly be the world's lamest superpower: the ability to divine when a train is approaching, without seeing it, just a little bit earlier than anyone else.

Just what would such power be called?

By this stage of history, we have a well-established linguistic convention for the naming of fictional superpowers in English.

Mostly derived from the word telekinesis, you swap out the 'tele-' for another prefix related to the elemental power in question. For example: electrokinesis is the ability to control electricity, necrokinesis is the ability to control the dead, hydrokinesis is water, pyrokinesis is fire, aerokinesis is air, technokinesis is technology, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera...

There's whole wikis devoted to documenting this kind of thing, as it turns out. What's the wildest power you can find? Mine's oleokinesis, the ability to manipulate oils with the mind...

Hey, whatever. I don't begrudge anyone nerding out and spending time thinking about these kinds of things. I'm doing it right now. There's certainly worse things that people can do...

And so back to the train stuff now. What would be the appropriate name for this "ability"?

Locomotokinesis?

Locomotive + -kinesis

What do you reckon?

Maybe you've got a better one?

Suddenly I was hit with an adjacent insight: Alan Rails, one-time Rick and Morty character, pictured above, from the episode Vindicators 3: The Return of Worldender whose defining power is the ability to summon ghost trains from the ether to do his fairly limited bidding.

Well, his ability would have to be called:

Necrolocomotokinesis

Right?
