The question everyone is dodging.........
“Would you prefer a world with no rules and no government?”
Most replies I’ve seen say NO. Rules keep order, right? But let me be honest with you. If I could have just "72 hours" in a world with zero rules, zero police, zero government… I would take it. Not forever. Just 72 hours.
Here’s why.
I grew up in Nigeria where rules are everywhere. Don’t cross here. Don’t talk back. Don’t wear that. Don’t say that, Don't do that .
But imagine waking up one morning and there’s no “you can’t”. No LASTMA. No PHCN bill. No “this is not allowed”. For 72 hours, I’d just walk through Lagos with my camera and take photos of anything. No fear of harassment. No fear of “move your camera”. That feeling alone… I think every human deserves to taste it once.
2. To test myself, not others
People think “no rules” means chaos. But I think it means your character becomes your government. Would I steal? Would I cheat? Without police watching, who am I really?
Those 72 hours would be my mirror. If I can still respect people, still queue, still return extra change when no law is forcing me........ then I’ll know I’m not good because of rules. I’m good because of choice. That’s more powerful to me.
But after 72 hours? Bring the rules back.
I’d run back to rules fast.
Because without them, Lagos would turn dark. No LASTMA means danfo buses blocking 3rd Mainland Bridge forever. No police means harassment on every street corner. No immigration means nobody checking borders - anything can enter.
After 72 hours, you’d start seeing real wahala: fighting in markets, theft at night, death all over because there’s no law guiding anyone. The freedom I wanted would turn into fear.
That’s when you understand why we need government. Rules don’t just restrict us. They protect us. They protect hospitals, schools, and even this Hive blockchain where our posts are safe.
So yes, 72 hours without rules to test myself. But after that? Bring back the rules. I’d welcome them with two hands.
My final answer
So yes, I’d prefer a world with no rules… for 72 hours only. Just long enough to remember why rules matter. Just long enough to choose order instead of being forced into it.
What about you? If you got 72 hours with zero rules, what’s the FIRST thing you’d do? Be honest 👇
