A lovebird is that the common name of Agapornis (Greek: αγάπη agape 'love'; όρνις ornis 'bird'), alittle genus of parrot. Eight species ar native to the African continent, with the gray-haired lovebird being native to Madagascar.
Social and loving, the name comes from the parrots' robust, monogynous try bonding and also the long periods that paired birds pay sitting along. Lovebirds board little flocks and eat fruit, vegetables, grasses, and seeds. Some species ar unbroken as pets, and several other color mutations were by selection bred in aviculture. Their average lifetime is ten to fifteen years.[1]
