Rowan: a tree up to 10 m tall, and less often a shrub of the family Rosaceae. The fruits of mountain ash are spherical, berry-shaped, red, bitter, bitter, slightly bitter in flavor. After the first frost, the fruits lose their astringency, they become tasty, somewhat sweet. Flowers in May - early June. The fruits ripen in September, remaining on the tree until winter. In nature, mountain ash is found in the forests and mountainous areas of the northern and middle parts of the northern hemisphere.
Fairly easy to maintain, most rowan trees look great almost year-round. In Russia, the branches of the rowan trees were decorated with tables, served with sugar and soaked with honey, pickled and dried. Previously, Ukraine prepared mountain ash paste, for which the frozen fruit was crushed with wooden spoons and mixed with powdered sugar. Our ancestors wrote that the rowan berries, especially touched by the frost, mixed with flour and honey and baked in the oven, have the same pleasant taste as the sweets made with sugar, which decorated even the tables of the rich.
Rowan fruits contain a large amount of vitamins. Vitamin C in it more than lemons. Rowan has vitamins P, B2, PP, E, K, provitamin A, sugars (up to 8% fructose, glucose, sucrose, sorbose), glycosides, amino acids, tannins, pectin and bitter substances, 48% organic acids (malic, citric, amber), flavonoids (a lot of routine), a lot of iron, copper and manganese, iodine, zinc, potassium, magnesium, alcohols (sorbitol and idit), essential oil; as well as volatile production, which cures and disinfects the air.
The rowan berries have a diuretic, diaphoretic, hemostatic, choleretic action; they were used in Bulgaria for the treatment of kidney stones, for rheumatism and as a laxative. In Hungary, they treated dysentery. The Norwegians used mountain ash as a wound healing agent, as well as for edema. The astringent taste of black fruit recalls that it contains a large amount of tannins, organic acids and pectins, which means that it has a great effect on digestion. For example, in black chokeberry fruits, vitamin P is 2 times more than in black currants and 20 times more than in oranges and apples. And the content of iodine in black fruit is 4 times higher than in strawberries, currants and raspberries. Rowan is an excellent vitamin and tonic; in carotene, provitamin A is superior to many varieties of carrots. To prepare a multivitamin tea, you need 1 tablespoon of the crushed mixture of dried rowan berries and rose hips, pour 2 cups of boiling water and insist on a thermos for 12 hours.
To improve the flavor in the infusion, you can add sugar or, better, honey. With the brittle containers, you can drink fresh juice and 1 tablespoon 3-4 times a day. Chokeberry contains sorbitol, which means that your berries can be eaten with diabetes without fear of a sharp increase in blood sugar levels. Due to its unique composition, Aronia berries help with many diseases. It has already been established that berries and black chokeberry juice with regular use help control the blood pressure level.
On the other hand, the increase in pressure is stabilized, and the normal - it is not reduced. Chokeberry is necessary for everyone who lives in a city, as it protects the body from exposure to radiation. This berry is useful for bleeding, kidney disease, allergies (eczema, neurodermatitis) and gastritis. In folk medicine, the fruits of mountain ash are used in anemia, kidney and liver diseases, in diabetes mellitus, especially with small vessels, in disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, in hemorrhoids.
Chokeberry contains a large amount of organic acids, so with hyper-acid gastritis and gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, it should be consumed moderately and only by aggravations.
In such situations, special herbal preparations containing chokeberry can help. Red damage can bring rowan to those who have increased blood clotting. Giving up is worth some heart disease. Do not advise berries of mountain ash such as those that survived a stroke or heart attack and those suffering from coronary heart disease. Chokeberry contains a large amount of organic acids, so with a peptic ulcer should be consumed moderately and exclusively without exacerbations.
