Philipians 3:7-8; I once thought these things were valuable, but now i consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes everything is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus. For his it is by his sake that i have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that i could gain Christ.
It is common to see many Christians talking about their past with so much pride, blowing their own trumpets and talking about the things they are able to do for God's Church and in charity. But then they tend to forget the righteousness they are experiencing, they are enjoy now is not by their own might by the power and grace of Christ. Humility should be our hallmark as Christians our past should remain the past when we come to Christ and even when we are blessed to have great wealth and talents based on our past which we are able to use to contribute to the development of God's Kingdom, we should not claim rights and boast because it has always not being our might or Power.
It is for this reason why Paul who was wealthy before he found Christ attributed everything from his past as vanity, discarding everything and focusing building his treasures in Heaven where ants and termites have not access to. Brethren in the Lord, the past is not the present, once you come to Christ you become a new creation and all things oft he past are past. The things that have built you till now, the goodness that you may have found on the way to Christ that can contribute to building his church should not be a boast rather we should understand that the Lord had a purpose for us which is why we are in his Kingdom and thus should thrive to use it to edify or build the Church in humility.
