1 Corinthians 13:8; Love never fails, never fades our or becomes obsolete or comes to an end. As for prophecy, the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose, it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away, it will lose its value and be superseded by truth.
Prophecies are messages that comes from the Holy Spirit to exhort, edify and comfort Christians. This is mostly done through a prophet however sometimes God works through others who may not have been prophets. Prophecy is very instrumental in the lives of us Christians as it comes to strengthen our faith, admonish in the ways of the Lord, edify us and direct and guide our paths.
In the verse today the focus is on the love of God, the verse tell us that the love of God is great for us, so great that it supersedes all even prophecies, why? Because at any point in time once a prophecy has finished its work it ceases but God love is eternal, our hope and faith will be fulfilled someday but the Love of God will last forever.
