Hebrews 12:1; Therefore as we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw of everything that impedes and the sin that so easily ensnares. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
The life of a Christian can be likened to that or a race, in a race how one begins is not as important as how they finish. Thus Usain Bolt may be slow starter but so long as he finishes as a champion his supporters are ok and good to go, in the same vain God is not as particular as to how we became Christians or were converted as he is with us keeping our faith to the very end, fighting the good fight and receiving the crown of victory. In likening the life of a Christian to a race it is better to be more specific in likening to that of a marathon, for our life with Christ goes on through our entire life, we keep pushing, and along the path there are hurdles, valleys and hills, rocky roads and smooth paths but we are to have the same goal as the Apostle Paul, to fight the good fight, finish the course and keep the faith.
It is very easy for the pleasures of life to entangle you and cause you to forget or stray from the path you the Lord has set in front of you, however it you keep on keeping with strength from the Holy Spirit and the grace and mercies of God you will succeed and when you finally cross the finish line in the faith, everything else fade and Glory of the Lord would have shown upon your life. May the good Lord help us even as we fight the good fight and keep on keeping on.
