Proverbs 4:23; Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
According to anatomy and science we understand and know now that our heart is core of our being, basically the reason why we are alive is because our heart ensures that all is fed including the all powerful brain that enables us to reason and to make decisions concerning our lives. So your heart is very very important and thus should be guarded very well. So in the olden days when people went for wars and battles they wore breastplates because so long as the heart keeps beating there is hope for survival. It is also quite interesting to know that the heart is the symbol used to represent love and basically all emotions, even the angry emoticon is red. Thus an uncontrolled heart can mislead you into doing things you may not have wanted to do in the first place.
So then the million dollar question remains, how do i guard my heart from the negativity of this world and the influence of the devil who is always out to get me? Our heart can only be guarded when we are wise and have access to knowledge, now the word of God makes us understand that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. So need the word of God in our lives that we may obtain knowledge and wisdom and act according to his will, this will also keeps us from being whimsical and doing things which may not be right. And then again we have to surround ourselves with godly people, we should fellowship with our Christian counterparts for they will lead us into further believing in God and strengthening our faith making us into unmovable rocks that the devil cannot deceive. So today as you begin your weekend, may the good Lord grant you the wisdom to guard your heart than you may be able to serve him well and live in the light of his righteousness. Have a blessed Day
