Charity is giving, how important is charity and how beneficial is it to us as Christians? Do we even need to continue to be charitable to others when they may not even be good to us? These and many more are some the things that run through the minds of many Christians in relation to the giving to other and not necessarily alms giving only. Today, we would like to touch on charity in the bible and how it turned the life of many around.
God works through man, and so for God to bless others one must avail themselves to be used by God. Giving is one of the ways God uses us to bless others and in doing so we gain a whole lot back. There was this woman who did not even know the Prophet Elisha but decided to take good care of him by offering him her home and indirectly inviting God to also come and stay in her home. Now that was her giving to God, she allowed herself to be used by God to bless or serve his servant and in doing so God returned the favor by granting her a child as she was barren. She bore a son and go a testimony out of her giving. In the same vain Abraham and Sarah taking care of strangers led to the bearing of a son even though they were in their old age. That is how much God appreciates the act of giving and thus rewards every single one accordingly. Brethren, today I would like to admonish you all to avail yourself to works of the Lord and allow yourself to be used to bless others through giving. Remember that God will always reward a cheerful giver.
