1 Thessalonians 1:8; in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
One thing that is very difficult for individuals to do is to give thanks when things do not go as they were hoping it, for instance, one would hardly feel appreciative after a misfortune has befallen them but our verse today is teaching us otherwise. We are actually supposed to thank God for everything single thing that happens in our life the good and bad all included. Someone would ask why should I thank God for something bad happening, is it not an indication that I like bad things happening to me and they should continue to happen?
No, it is not for the father in heaven knows your beginning from your end, he knows how you feels and he already knows your needs and wants. Perhaps that misfortune was a test of faith or to strengthen you in an aspect of your Christian life, or perhaps to even save you from a greater misfortune, which is why you must thank God for do not know what the future holds and he has said in his word that he will not forsake or leave us. So the next time you something bad happens to you and you feel neglected remember that God will never leave you and that he always do things for our Good.
