How are we all doing, it is the beginning of the 11th month of the year 2023, the days have been quite fast and full of lots of goodness and greatness, our community has come a long way since its inception and has flourished greatly with thanks our benefactors and authors.
For a while now we have been learning new things almost every day and every week and from our last discord hangout we spoke about claiming of tokens on the blockchain for which we it was suggested that we take time to speak about the various Dapps, Hive-engine and the various tokens that may be available to us and our accounts and where we can find them. We also looked at how tipping works and how its different from staking tokens.
For those of us who missed out the meeting, take advantage of this opportunity to go over some of the topics as we treat them again and i do hope that you learn a few things as i share my understanding. Note that everything i share i based on my own understanding and learning and not because i am any expert whatsoever. Do correct me if i miss out on anything or get things not in the right way.
Wallet.Hive.Blog
So tokens are basically the currency for a blockchain, you earn them by doing a certain task that follows the operations of the blockchain, for instance on the Hive blockchain proof of brain is key to getting rewards when others curate or vote your post because it is authentic, at the end of the 7 day period, you reward would be available in your wallet for claiming in the form of token in this case, hive.
You would then have to actually claim it for it to reflect in your account, until that is done, it would continue to pile up. Now there are ways you can set automatic claiming of tokens using the fanbase platform however that is not part of our discussion for today, for today we are going to focus on the manual claiming process.
And so on the Hive blockchain we can say the tokens we get rewarded with for our proof of brain is hive, hbd and hive power. The rate of distribution would be decided by the system, the intricacies of how sometimes we get only hbd payouts and a mixture of all three or hive would also be another topic for discussion in one of our meetings, and so do not miss out on our weekend hangouts.
On the hive blockchain, there are Dapps and these also come with their own token, some for which you can purchase others for which you can gain through their platform by sharing your hive content there. And so tokens like leo, music, neoxag, waiv etc all work similar or same as the hive blockchain itself and when your account is connected to it like how we connected our account to three speak platform in our previous discussion, then your content would also be visible in your hive blog.
We would be taking a look at some of these Dapps and their sites and how you can claim the tokens on their site, you cannot claim leo tokens by going to wallet.hive.blog, no, its the same way that you cannot also claim music tokens or neoxag and so we will have to know their platform to be able to do that. And so there are many of us who have been using particular tags and earning the corresponding tokens and yet are not even aware of what they have, they have to even claim a single one of them.
We will do these in the days ahead, but for today, for the benefits of the newbies we discovered were having difficulties claiming their author rewards here is how to go about it.
- The first and simplest way one can do this is to go to their notification section on hive.blog. Most often whenever we have pending hive or hive power or hbd to be claimed it shows up there and you only need to click on it for it to be claimed.
- The other way is to go to wallet.hive.blog, you may need to login in with your active key or any of the higher keys to be able to use the functions to the fullest. Over here too it would be showing up just like how it did at the notifications section and once again, you simple have to click on it and it should now reflect in your balance or power accordingly.
And then thus it, you have successfully claimed you hive tokens. Once they are available in your wallet, you can now transfer them as funds or powerup if it is hive or convert to hbd and vice versa. If you scroll down you can find your account history with all your transactions there, incase something seems amiss for you, you can confirm.
Conclusion
And so that is it for today, tomorrow we would look at converting hbd to hive and vice versa and how to powerup or stake your hive with the blockchain and the benefits of doing so, then we would move to the wallets of the various Dapps.
