In 2016, I started learning to draw. Most of all, I wanted to learn how to draw portraits. I started from scratch. I've never painted in oil. And I drew portraits like children do)) At that time, I believed that drawing on a large format for a beginner is the best thing. I would wake up at 3 a.m. and start drawing. I had 3-4 hours before my baby would wake up.
Large formats require a lot of time, even just to cover a large spot with one color. Not to mention the number of times I've applied paint and taken it off. At some point, to transfer the proportions of the face to the canvas, I began to use a ruler. I had a formula in my head that I used to scale the data. I used a ruler to measure the key points in the photo , and I converted them using a formula. And then, using the new ruler data, I marked the key points on the canvas.
Looks like it's been five years. And I learned to draw eyes the way I dreamed. Now I can draw with covering materials. And my dream is to prove myself in the world of watercolors this year. And draw portraits with a new feeling.
The first four works are in oils, then watercolors, and the last four works are colored pencils.
I'm switching to a smaller format from 50 \ 70 cm to A3. And I try watercolors.
