Living in the Middle East is wonderful when the sunshines for approximately 359 days of the year. Everything just seems easier when the weather is consistently sunny. You can make plans with friends the day before and everyone will show up. It's a totally different story when I visit family in the UK. We plan weeks in advance and at the last minute people will think nothing of cancelling. Sometimes it's weather related and other times I think people are just so stressed out that they want to hibernate at the weekends.
