Hello Hivers!
Hola Hivers!

*Today I want to share with you my participation in this beautiful musical event that is the Hive Open Mic, in its week #68. For this week the theme chosen was "Ecological Conscience" and this beautiful song originally composed by Alan Menken and Stephen Laurence Schwartz for the Disney movie Pocahontas, speaks precisely about loving, appreciating and valuing the earth and every living being on it, so it is very appropriate for this edition of the open mic, and although I imagined that some (or some) other participants would also choose it because it is well known and has touched the hearts of many during our childhood, I still decided to keep practicing it to do my cover. I really wanted to sing this song, first because vocally it is an interesting challenge, and second because I simply wanted to feel like Pocahontas singing with the orchestra that recorded the music for Disney 馃槀.
The lyrics are so beautiful, the orchestral part is so magical and the voice of singer Susana Zabaleta, so sweet and powerful at the same time, that this whole part of the film made me and still makes me cry when I watch it. It is about noting how different ways of seeing the world affect how we interact with nature. We should change what are the priorities in our society in general in order to give our earth and the rest of living beings the care and respect they deserve for giving us all a place to live.

Letra / Lyrics

Me crees ignorante y salvaje
T煤 has ido por el mundo
Y viajado por doquier
M谩s no puedo entender
Si hay tanto por saber
Tendr铆as que aprender a escuchar
Escuchar

Te crees se帽or de todo territorio
La tierra solo quieres poseer
M谩s toda roca, planta o criatura

Y mil sorpresas hallar谩s alrededor

驴O has visto a un lince sonre铆r?
驴O unirte a la voz de las monta帽as?
驴Y colores en el viento descubrir?

驴Cu谩n alto el 谩rbol ser谩?
Si lo cortas hoy, nunca se sabr谩

Y no oir谩s aullar los lobos a la Luna azul
Sea blanca o morena nuestra piel

You think me ignorant and wild
You've been around the world
And traveled everywhere
But I can't understand
If there's so much to know
You should learn to listen
Listen

You think you're lord of all territory
The land you just want to own
But every rock, plant or creature
It is alive, it has a soul, it is a being

You believe that the whole world is equal to you
And you speak like a great connoisseur
But follow the footsteps of a stranger
And a thousand surprises you'll find all around

Did you hear the wolves howl at the blue moon?
Or seen a lynx smile?
Or join the voice of the mountains?
And colors in the wind discover?
And colors in the wind discover?

Let's run along forest paths
Let's taste the flavor of its fruits
Discover what richness surrounds you
Without a moment's thought of its value

Brothers are the river and the rain
Friends we all are, as you see
We live very happily so united
In a fraternal cycle that is eternal

How tall will the tree be?
If you cut it down today, you'll never know

And you won't hear the wolves howl at the blue moon
Whether our skin is white or brown
We all have to sing with the mountains
And colors in the wind to discover

If you don't understand what's here
It's only land for you
No colors in the wind to discover
