이성민 감독의 103분 다큐멘터리 ‘그린 콘크리트’는 서울 개포동 대단지 아파트 철거 과정을 2017년부터 7년간 기록한다. 옛 주민들이 빈 터와 창문을 다시 찾고, 오랜 나무를 옮겨 심을 수 있는지 묻는 장면을 통해 재개발에서 사라지는 기억과 이웃 관계를 비춘다. 작품은 찬반의 단순한 결론 대신 경제적 가치가 도시 생태와 정서적 유산을 압도할 때 무엇을 잃는지 질문한다. 감독은 베어진 나무로 공공 미술 기념물도 만들었다. 국내 환경·다큐 영화제에서 수상한 이 영화는 8월 19일 극장 개봉한다.
Director Lee Sung-min’s 103-minute documentary Green Concrete follows seven years of demolition at a large apartment complex in Seoul’s Gaepo-dong. It centers on lost trees, residents’ memories and neighborhood ties, asking how cities can preserve ecological and community history. It opens Aug. 19.
