I'm honored to make my inaugural post within this community, and I'd like to delve into the themes of faith and consistency. Allow me to share a passage from the Bible, Luke 18:35-43:
"Now it happened that as he drew near to Jericho, there was a blind man sitting at the side of the road begging. When he heard the crowd going past, he asked what it was all about, and they told him that Jesus the Nazarene was passing by. So he called out, 'Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me.' The people in front scolded him and told him to keep quiet, but he only shouted all the louder, 'Son of David, have pity on me.' Jesus stopped and ordered them to bring the man to him, and when he came up, asked him, 'What do you want me to do for you?' 'Sir,' he replied, 'let me see again.' Jesus said to him, 'Receive your sight. Your faith has saved you.' And instantly his sight returned, and he followed him praising God, and all the people who saw it gave praise to God."
Faith, as defined, embodies absolute belief, complete trust, and unwavering confidence in someone or something. Consistency, on the other hand, manifests as relentless perseverance—the act of refusing to give up.
In the Gospel passage above, the blind man, having been without sight all his life, resorted to begging by the roadside. Despite his lifelong blindness leading to a loss of hope, he clung unwaveringly to faith. He might have heard tales of Jesus' miracles in various towns and cities, yet never did he imagine encountering Jesus himself.
The crux of the passage lies not in the blind man meeting Jesus, but in his unyielding belief that encountering Jesus meant the end of his struggles. Often in life, we confront numerous challenging situations that not only test our hope but also shake our faith in God. When businesses collapse, when we lose loved ones, face financial crises, marital issues, illnesses, and more, we tend to relinquish not just hope but our faith in God.
Many times, we convince ourselves that we've prayed enough, mourned enough for God to intervene, or feel too burdened by sin to receive help. However, this Bible passage highlights that despite being told to remain silent, the blind man persisted. He displayed consistency. We, too, must maintain consistency in our faith and prayers. Like the blind man, we shouldn't waver due to prevailing challenges; instead, let's maintain unwavering faith and consistency.
