Now, activities to monitor animals have become very common. There are bird watchers who go to the forests or parks where birds watch and listen. Then they gather information about which species, in which regions were observed. There is a whale watching, and so on.
So I decided to borrow the idea and become an observer in underwater living creatures. For example shrimp.
Until the next trip to me a few more weeks, and I will show results from one night dive in Raja Ampat. In addition to artistic photographs, I always try to do simple shots, different animals. It helps then remember who I saw where. Yes, and you can just learn more about marine life.
So we start to count the shrimp. Give more types of shrimp per one square meter))
In fact, shrimp were photographed on a plot of 20 meters. Yes, someone managed to shoot well, someone worse. And from some only some incomprehensible parts because of the corals stick out.
I'm sorry, but there will be a lot of photos. Not all of them are good. But if you master the inspection of them to the end, you can imagine how different there are shrimp. And how many of them can be in one place.
The size of the smallest shrimp presented here is less than 1 centimeter. And the biggest was much more than 10 centimeters. At the same time she had very long claws. With them probably would have been 20-25 centimeters.
Unfortunately the biggest shrimp at its size, it was very shy and immediately crawled deep into the corals. Apparently understands that unlike her smaller counterparts, she is a good culinary option. By the way, in confirmation of this I can say that I saw similar shrimps in an aquarium in a restaurant in Sri Lanka. Together with the lobsters awaiting their fate.
Most interestingly, my friends on the trip said that there is little shrimp, and it's difficult to find them ...) And I shot without stopping left and right. At the same time I missed the smallest shrimp, and those who do not sit comfortably.
8 shrimps have already accumulated to this place.
Pay attention to their eyes. Probably the most amazing detail of shrimp. I really like to shoot such eyes large. But these are the themes of a separate shooting and a separate story.
But the eyes of shrimp have one more property - they glow in the dark. If you turn off all the lights at night and wait, then glowing points will begin to appear around them. Almost the entire reef becomes covered with tiny luminous dots. This is shrimp. Just by the light of powerful lanterns, we do not notice it. And shrimp prefer to hide.
In the water column shrimps are also found. They are light enough to pounce from the coral and hover in the water. Easy movements with paws are enough to hang like that or swim somewhere. The truth is that swimming is not very similar. Rather, on sharp jumps.
There are no more than a few very beautiful shrimps, which I shot on other days. They would be a very good addition to the collection.
Meanwhile, already 12 shrimp...
Unfortunately, I could not identify all these shrimps. All the same, I'm not a super specialist in marine biology. For example, the first very beautiful shrimp is marble shrimp. They are found in several species at that region. But it's very difficult to shoot. Shrimp always sit inside corals.
But here we come to the finale. If someone else is reading here)
All the same, 1 bottle of air has a limited life. And even in very comfortable conditions, it can not last for several hours. By the way, my friends were tired of waiting for me in the boat, and at the end of the dive they started throwing a buoy at the place where the bubbles came from.
15!
Total we got 15 different shrimp. In one section of the reef, about 1 hour of diving. Not for nothing that all the same this region is considered one of the richest in marine life.
