I liked this story and that they restored the knife to like-new condition, but I wonder if it would have been better to leave it with all the marks from the "battles" your father fought in. I think he would have kept it as a relic, just as it was, to see the marks and remember each war. Perhaps I'm idealizing the memories that some objects give us. Hugs, my friend
