I feel that if you are making a name for yourself, catching a group of readers, you must try to offer them what they like and what you can give them (this last point is important because maybe people like to consume memes, but you don't make memes, but you can make a more relaxed and more humorous speech). Then, when you have that audience caught up, you can afford to try out your own style and deal only with the topics you like. All this if you want to be read, because if you don't care if you are read or not, then there is no point in this answer or your post.
