Most people don't think it's a big deal to use their headphones or earbuds while they are walking in public, but I have seen quite a few people about to be hit by vehicles many times because they were so in tuned with what they were listening to on their headphones that they didn't even bother to pay attention to what was going on around them.
And I had a friend whose teenage son got jumped one day when he was walking home from school while listening to music on his I-Pod. The guys who jumped him also took his I-Pod.
Although there is nothing wrong with listening to music on headphones in public sometimes, people still need to learn to not let them distract them in such a way that it will be detrimental to their health or life.
