When my son was around 8 years old, I bought him one of those Singing Bass toys that used to be so popular. The toy was a fish that was on a board or plaque that you could hang on the wall, and when you pressed one of the buttons on the back of the board, it would sing or talk.
One day, I noticed that my son had started acting strange every time I took the toy fish out of the closet so he could play with it. He seemed to be scared of it all of a sudden. I kept asking him why, but he wouldn't tell me.
A few days later when I was cleaning his room, I heard a strange noise coming from his closet, so I slowly opened the closet door and I saw that the toy fish was what had been making the noise. It was talking or singing like it normally did when it was turned on. But I thought we had turned it off, so I didn't know why it would still be making noise.
Well...even though I was a little frightened, I picked the toy up to see what was going on with it. When I turned it over, I saw that it was on Automatic instead of Off, which means that every few minutes it would automatically come on and sing its little song. That's when I realized why my son was so scared of this toy. It had been coming on and singing in his closet every night for a few days, so apparently, he'd thought it was possessed or something.
I'd had no idea that instead of turning the toy off I had turned it to Automatic, causing my son to be serenaded all night by a toy that just couldn't keep its mouth shut. Lol. We ended up giving this toy to one of my son's friends, because after him being terrified by it for those few nights, he was no longer interested in it.
