Most leg cramps that I've had have been moderate, but some of them have been so painful that they required me to have to walk around for awhile before they would subside. These are the kind that leave the calves of your legs sore for a little while after they go away. I think nutritionists have said that when you have cramps like these, that means that you may be low on calcium.
I don't have leg cramps that often, but when I do and they start to hit me a little harder, I start increasing my calcium intake. I guess it helps, since I haven't had any severe ones in quite awhile now.
