I know that most of us see cats as being scared of everyone, because a lot of the time they will run from you. But they don't always run, and sometimes they will challenge another animal to a fight. When I was a kid, I had a black and brown chihuahua, and one day a stray brown and white cat took up residence at our house. My chihuahua and the new cat would get into fights at times and the cat would always end up slapping him hard across his face with her claws, making him whimper.
Also, I've seen kittens chase a big dog before, and I thought that was the strangest thing ever. I know that dog must have felt ashamed of himself for running from something that was so much smaller than him. Maybe, unlike my chihuahua, he was afraid of those dangerous claws and was trying to avoid them.
