I originally wrote this, but felt almost as if I shouldn't continue. I questioned what the point was, and whether anyone would even care what my reasons were, given I'm far form the first to make the switch. But, I figured it was worthy of posting. There will be others out there that are stuck using Steemit's awful UI and not aware of how great the other options now are.
I didn't take the leap for a long time, since my account on the Steem blockchain was created, I never felt that the other options were worthy of using. They may have had a few improved features, but they weren't quite there yet. Steemit still somewhat reigned over in terms of usability. Well, that's not the case anymore.
Steem is pushing ahead, slowly but surely, and the community is beginning to take over with Steem Engine and Tribes at the wheel. Steemit's UI is still facing the issue of no notifications, no connection with Tribes (which does make sense given they are making Smart Media Tokens, coming estimated 2186). As well as the fact that it's limited to 5 tags.
I'm really enjoying the fact that I am no longer limited to 5 tags, of which there are many more. I no longer feel I have to use a combination of relevant and popular. I'm loving that adding a beneficiary to the rewards is an option, so that in the future I may even share my rewards with minnows during some type of event. The UI is easy, filled with useful utilities that help you maintain your account with upcoming rewards and Tribe tokens, notifications of not only replies but votes, and I find it amazing that on the profile page it encourages the use of those witness votes.
I have to admit, I'm not one to post from my mobile. Though, when I have been too busy or away from home to use the desktop, I do use it to continue my curation. I'll have to check out how SteemPeak functions in that regard.
Focusing on curation, I feel that will improve drastically from now on. SteemPeak's UI that allows a grid viewing of the Feed is excellent. It means one no longer has to scroll down, one post at a time in order to read and curate a post. There are now rows of posts to go through at once on the screen, saving a lot of time which can now be spent on reading more posts, following more people, upvoting more posts.
