Exactly—adaptations always change aspects of the original work under the pretext that the story will work better in another format, and in this case, the excuse is to update Carrie for a new generation. It works to some extent because that King story will stand the test of time, but I think Flanagan goes too far and makes such a radical change that it undermines the original work—at least its ending, which is just as iconic as the rest of the story.

The series has many positive aspects, such as the development of secondary characters and the updating of the story, but downplaying the climax is what I liked the least—and all just to extend a production that seems to be closely tied to other works by Stephen King.
