Trigoniulus corallinus, also known as the Rusty Millipede, is a species of millipede found mainly in tropical regions, especially in parts of India and Southeast Asia. It is known for its distinctive reddish-brown or coral coloration, giving it the "rusty" moniker. Like other millipedes, it is a detritivore, meaning it primarily feeds on decomposing organic matter, playing an important role in breaking down plant material and enriching soil.
This millipede species is generally harmless to humans. When disturbed, it may curl up into a spiral to protect itself, a typical defense mechanism among millipedes. Additionally, it can secrete mild defensive chemicals that might cause slight skin irritation in some individuals, though this is usually not a significant issue.
