Coplinopsis lapops are salvic bacteria that grow in solitude or groups. It usually grows into wood chips, leaf litter, compost piles, humus-rich soil, plant waste, etc. It is widely distributed all over the world. Specimens are collected at Tangareshwar Wildlife Reserve, Maharashtra.

The body size of the fruit varies greatly. Arthur Henry Reginald Buller observed this change by growing spores with horse manure. Mature lids grow widely and convex, up to 40 mm in diameter and oval, eventually becoming more or less flat. Gray will be black. Initially, it is covered with a dense layer of silver hair that breaks into the stain at maturity and eventually disappears.
