Hi everyone,
This photo shows a green bottle fly named Lucilia resting on a light green cactus-type stem.
The insect has a bright metallic green body with golden reflections, transparent wings, and a head with large reddish compound eyes.
Although often considered a pest around homes, the green bottle fly plays an important role in nature: it helps recycle organic matter and also contributes to pollinating certain plants while feeding on nectar.
Have a nice day.
