India will need 1,750 new passenger and cargo aircraft over the next twenty years, Airbus said in its latest Indian Market Forecast, and specifically, there will be 1,320 new single aisle and 430 wide aisle aircraft, with a value of 255 billion dollars.

According to the estimates of the aeronautical company, by 2036, the inhabitants of India will fly four times more than at present. Domestic traffic in this country is expected to grow at a rate of 8.1 percent per year, which is almost double the world average.

In addition, by 2019 and 2020, India will become the third largest air market in the world, behind the United States and China. In this regard, the European consortium already has orders for more than 530 aircraft until this date, which seeks to consolidate in this area.

Airbus estimates that, over the next decade, it will deliver, on average, one plane per week in India.

As a result of India's aeronautical growth, different airlines are already betting on this market, such as Joon, the low-cost long-range Air France, which recently announced its new Paris-Mumbai route.

The Indian government recently approved foreign investment in its flagship airline, Air India, which will be able to sell up to 49 percent of the shares of this company.
