The Madman of the cave

In the past, I was judged for my way of thinking, my vision of the future and for my unique way of seeing things. With that mania of sitting down everything in writing. I was branded a Crazy, when I suggested the construction of a city on the top of a mountain.

According to my criteria, it was absurd, that the life of the inhabitants of the area rested on a coastal plain made with fill material from excavation, rubble and conglomerates. At the same time, it was located at a level three meters below sea level.

It was a small valley surrounded by a black and accidental mountain range, which caused fear to be explored.

But, for me! it represented salvation. That orogenic formation was there, placed there by the hands of the Creator himself to provide shelter. Staying in the village was like living in the meniscus of a full cup that is about to spill. It was only a matter of time before a last drop would eventually overflow, bringing misfortune.

Thus, the years passed and I remained, no more, than a agorero in the eyes of the people. No one trusted me, everyone thought that I was a messenger of evil who deserved to be condemned to exile.

I exhausted my efforts in vain, trying to raise awareness; I resorted to the media, to the open town hall, to the city squares. I even dared to visit, in their own homes, as many families as I could in order to bring them my warning message. I only obtained several complaints against me, as well as beatings and insults, which finally led me to banishment.

They called me "The Madman of the cave"; from that day on, when I decided to move, alone, to the prominent granite and silica elevation.

I noticed that the earth was suffering an enormous mistreatment; that current of warmer and warmer air, the hostility of the soil and its emanations, the drought, the ocean that was getting bigger and the man so small. A sign, which spoke to me, told me that the waters would regain their rightful place in due time... I was not sure what to do.

Just as the sand occupies the small space in the rock, now I had to sow my idea in the minds of a whole people. To generate the necessary impact so that they would believe me, although it would be like finding the truth in the mouth of the Pharisee, for them, it would be to obey the Loco, whom they always hated, who tried to guide them towards an uncertain destiny.

I set out on my exploration, while everyone watched me leave, incredulous. I wandered into the Indomitable thinking of a solution for myself, without ceasing to think of them. I discovered a grotto between two screens that seemed to touch the sky which led to the summit at more than twelve hundred msnm.

Those were the longest days of my life, hopelessly turning into night, until at the least expected moment I found the answer to my journey through time. A place, where it was possible to start again. The promised land, with abundant resources to cover the needs of several hundred. I entered a cave, the way our primitive ancestor did. And I developed my idea, and I was free of thought.

Before settling permanently in the cave, which would become my new niche away from civilization; soon after, I was back in the city again with the intention of entrusting my finding and my knowledge.

For this, I left at the government house a series of detailed plans of my project, as well as a map of the grotto that would lead to the plateau I had discovered. Then, I went to the plaza and called the citizens together. Some laughed and others, attracted by the superstition they had always seen in me, gradually surrounded the gazebo where I stood to make my speech:

"There is no worse folly than a man's stubbornness. It is the ways of his mind that will lead him to misfortune or salvation. The voice of common sense is the reflexive call made to you by a sane man, a man who differs from the rest only because of the stigma that has been unjustly conferred on him through time. I know, that for you I am a Madman, But; Can a madman do a common good? Can a madman go away and come back to offer them a project?. If I can see beyond that, it is only the product of my study of nature and its behavior, my diagnosis of the situation of a people who have defied science by placing themselves in a place that is part of the ocean. A people that has no room in its compression to accommodate this humble citizen who is only trying to save them from a tragic event."

As of today, I am leaving, and for your sake, I hope you can follow me to the place I have recommended....

After a while, accustomed to living in my cave, a slight shuddering of the mountain bed disturbed my sleep. An almost imperceptible movement accompanied by the broken sound of thunder. With my own eyes I saw! from the peak, how the sea moved hundreds of meters away from the coast. It began that heavy rain that warned of misfortune. And the sky wept over the bottom of the sea and the drops were blue and the sand like blood..... Then it surged, in a great wave as big as silence itself, silence that swept away everything in its path, that erased from history the mistake made by a group of souls in the past. Completely disappearing the coastal city and leaving for the memory that old village that became part of the nothingness....

.

To my good fortune, I witnessed everything from the plateau, among fertile land, trees and crops. Next to a county that was laying stone upon stone, to build a church. In his new home, next to a cave. Their new life, full, prosperous in a strong mountain stratum.

.

"Meanwhile, they remembered that day when, in the gazebo of a square, the Madman of the cave, delivered his speech addressed to the masses."
