Here I am again in this house, thought commissar Philip Rejevičius having entered his home with his colleagues. Standing next to the dead and looking at him, he still couldn't believe it. Even now he remembered his first visit here. It was Monday, August 5, 2012. He arrived at home after officers were called when a woman with children detected a dead spouse in the kitchen. His body was already stiff, with water and broken glass around him. An autopsy revealed that he had been injected with the venom of Bungarus Candidus in his neck. The venom of this creature the venom quickly paralyzed the nerves causing spasms and eventually paralysis. Even now, remembering this, he had his beard set on a dip. His family didn't help at all: neither the wife nor the children heard anything at night. The door lock was found to have been broken and his wife had previously turned off the alarm.
Of course, along with colleagues he looked around every corner of the house. He even looked at the summer home that belonged to the deceased. But all He found was just only the company documents, various documents of ownership, bonds and so on. There was nothing he could hook up to. He did not discover any mysteries while investigating August Daboravičius murder: he did not hide the charges, had not engaged in a love affair. He didn't even have non-marital children.
Here he is again in this house. August Daboravičius business partner died who was initially suspected of murder when it turned out that some of the money had been released by the wind. He hoped it was a natural death. Stepped to a colleague Crescent Morevičius.
"Please say that he died of natural causes."
"I have to disappoint you." Crescent smiled sadly. "He seems to be poisoned."
"Like Augustas Daboravičius?!"
"Yes. Although not quite... Potassium cyanide appears to have been used... I smell the almond smell from his mouth."
Even this and August Daboravičius deaths are related, asked Philip to himself.
As colleagues talked to the guests, he himself stepped to four people to the Daboravicius and to them. The welcoming Nerita's son introduced Alexander, his parents and brother.
"We celebrated Mom's birthday," Daniel said. "We don't understand how that happened."
"According to a colleague, he was poisoned by potassium cyanide."
For a moment there was an awkward silence. Everyone widened, staring at the Commissar.
"Like my father?" Silvia asked, unable to believe him.
The Commissar nodded. Alexander grabbed her by the hand.
"Just before Mr Nautaras was crushed, Silvia's mother received a horrible gift."
"What kind?" Philip became interested.
Alexander released her hand and took a box from the table, which he stretched out to the Commissar.
"Content was leaked," he continued as if he hadn't stopped talking. "I collected it and put it back in the box."
Philip glanced inside.
Although the box did not fall out of hands he sighed when he saw the five human fingers cut off. He invited a colleague to whom he handed the box.
"Let the experts investigate. Find out if the body has been found with cut or severed fingers in recent days."
The colleague took the box in his hands and hurried away.
Standing up until then, Nerita collapsed on one of the chairs in the living room.
"Do you at least know who sent this gift?" Philip asked.
The family shook their heads in unison.
"I found it at the door," the voice of the worker standing outside is heard. "Everyone was in the courtyard and the gates of the house were left unlocked."
"But why would he?" Nerita said. "Why did someone kill him?"
Philip didn't say what he already understood – her husband and his death are somehow related. He is convinced that something is really connected.
"Mom," approached Silvia. "I'll accompany you to the room."
Nerita stood up and left room with her daughter. For a moment there was silence in the room which was interrupted by Daniel.
"We'll have to report to Sofia and her daughter."
The commissar recalled that when this guy's father was killed, it turned out that Nautaras was engaged in an affair with the head of one modeling agency. Neither his wife didn't know that. Finally when he had to stop investigating the murder of August Daboravičius, Nautaras divorced with his wife who received half of his estate after the divorce. Their daughter Lucrecia, who did not forgive him and chose to move to his new mother's home, severed all ties with his father. She can be partially understood, he thought.
Half a year after the divorce Nautaras's mistress broke up with him and was later spotted with a young twenty-three year old model named Stephen.
Nerita, accompanied by her daughter, entered her bedroom.
"I feel good."
"Are you sure?" Silvia glared at her mother.
Nerita assured her once again that she really felt better and that she could return to others.
With the door closed behind her and Silvia disappeared, she sat down on the bed. She was struck by his sudden and unexpected death. Just like a husband. But now the shocks have been replaced by different feelings.
She felt no desire to meet Sofia again. Her daughter is another matter... The thought of meeting her again made her angry. That woman sought to know who her real parents were. She barely knew it. Fortunately she prevented it. Eleven years before her parents death, she learned from them that her aunt had an illegitimate daughter, which her parents gave for adoption. At first, she didn't suspect that the baby might be Sofia. It came as a surprise when Sofia once mentioned that her parents adopted her the same year from a foster home. It was the same foster home that her grandparents handed over to her aunt's baby.
When Sofia mentioned that she had visited that office and agreed with the then director that she would look over the old documents and call, Nerita decided she had something to do. The next day he visited a bank where he made a quarter of a million and immediately went to the foster home. On arrival she waited until the director accepted her. After this presentation, she briefly outlined the matter and offered a deal to destroy the documents.
"I offer a quarter of a million," Nerita put a big envelope full of money on the table.
The head of the home did not hesitate to agree.
She paid her that money and and when the documents were destroyed and when they found out that Sophia was left with nothing, she paid the same amount to the woman and she was no longer seen.
Eleven years have passed. She felt sure that Sofia would never know the truth again. Nevertheless, she still felt no desire to see her again.
She leaned his head back, leaning on the commode next to the bed.
