Connor (the Cat) and I spent more time today working and playing outside in the garden.

Lately it has been a bit neglected, but today was a good day to get on with weeding and prepping plants for the coming Autumn. One thing that has been my major project has been weed annihilation, but today I spent as much time working on ants and bugs.
For the end of summer, the ants are everywhere - inside and outside the house. Doesn't matter how clean and food scrap free you keep the place, there are always a few more to wipe up. Also outdoors, they have made numerous nests around the place. This is where I have to be careful. With a cat and a son who loves to stick things from the ground in his mouth, there is no way I could possibly use commercial pest killers. I spent a lot of today pouring bottles of vinegar down each of these nests. Will it work? I hope so.
An old lemon tree that was cut down also contained a surprise for me. A group of caterpillars like I haven't seen before had set up camp:

I don't know what it is called, so I would love to be enlightened :)
I didn't have the heart to kill these creatures - they have gone into the green bin and will be taken away to another place soon enough. I expected Connor to go nuts when she saw them, but she just watched on - it's that time of day...

You have a good day too... :)
