Another reboot that I am scared to watch is the A-Team. This was 6 pm Saturday prime-time viewing on TV for me right after Blockbusters. The thrill of seeing Hannibal and the boys take down some bad guys was a highlight of my youth. The exploding cars, the awesome 80's guns, and the van.
For movies that I would like to see a reboot of I have managed to narrow it down to 2 possible candidates. The first one is The Running Man which originally starred The Governator, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
This film I loved when I watched it as it showed a dystopian future and one man overcoming all odds to reveal the corruption and evil of the elites keeping people in poverty. In this film, Arnie is classic Arnie, delivering his infamous I'll be back line... but only in a rerun quips the bad guy flummoxed back! hehe
With how crazy the world is now with the corruption through the elites and their corporatism, this could be prime for a reboot. However, there are many of these dystopian films around already and the theme has been done to death.
Knight Rider
This leaves the door wide open for a classic film from my youth starring another legend from the german speaking world. Let me introduce you to a personal hero of mine... David "Don't hassle the Hoff" Hasselhoff.
The Hoff single-handedly managed to make having a perm AND wearing a leather jacket look cool.
What film could be better for a reboot than Knight Rider? The story of one man and his car Kit. Unlike the evil computer Sal in 2001 - A Space Odyssey, Kit is a really friendly computer car that can drive on its own and save "Michael" from many sticky situations.
In the reboot, Kit the car could be made into an electric vehicle, I would say a Tesla but they don't look half as nice as the Audi e-tron! Just look at those trims...
Who could play The Hoff?!?
Those are some big shoes to fill and I think only someone like one of my favorite actors such as Tom Cruise might be able to do it. But he's too old now. I'm sorry Tom, I'm not going to show you the money, now beat it!
Although he's more known for his roles in chick flicks and romcoms, I think Ryan Gosling could play The Hoff. After his great performance in Drive, he has some credentials that could be worthy for him to step up to the plate in this big role.
The soundtrack to Drive was pretty good too, so we should also get Kavinsky on the phone and see if he can remix the knight rider theme!
The final important character for the reboot is who will play the voice of Kit?? I think none other than Snoop Dogg! The modern car could be super cool sounding like Snoop Dogg.
