Hi community. I want to share with you a few shots taken in my garden. Believe it or not that used to be an apple. I found it amazing that it was still "holding on", all dried up and looking more like a raisin.
This second is a plant called "Mahonia aquifolium" and is the only plant in my garden that stays "green" even during winter. And it makes such a good place for little birds to hide when it's very cold. I always hear them in there "chatting", playing around. This plant grows quite large but it's easy to take care of.
I found this little one very brave to have withstood the minus temperature that we had recently. I am wondering for how long though.
This is a shot taken from on top of my yucca. Or so I think this it's called. I actually found it thrown away in the neighborhood, by the side of the road last spring. The owner probably replaced it with other plant or had too many of them. But hey, one man's trash , that's another man's treasure.
And it's doing great in my garden.
I like the way the leaves "shred", I tried some shreds out and they are actually pretty strong, like that line used to catch fish with.
This next one is called "phalaris arundinacea picta" and it's pretty much dried up entirely at this time of the year. Still I found some green in the middle of the bush. I'm really fond of this grass and I like to plant it next to the trees as it grows so fast and starts "surrounding" the trees trunk.
Another little one lost, still "hanging in there".
These used to be some beautiful purple little flowers, totally dried up now, the seeds are good to gather at this time .
BUT they are so hard "to control" once they start spreading. And that's only a small portion that I got in my shot. They grow by the fence usually as they are shade-loving but would probably take over the whole garden if I would let them have their way.
Still one of my favorite fall flowers even so.
