Well with all due respect. There is also quite a bit of counter evidence as to bitcoin does expend quite a bit of energy and raises the temperatures of lakes etc., and wildlife. So we may never have a total agreement on if bitcoin energy consumption is more good than bad.
My inclination would be why even take the chance when we don't have to. There are many competing algos that don't have that issue. The late great John Mccaffee, said in one of his final interviews.. bitcoin is going to die. It's old dinosaur ancient technology. Yes we owe bitcoin a great deal of gratitude we've stood on the shoulder of a giant and improved. Yes we have.
Unfortunately we also advance through change and growth. Bitcoin doesn't allow us to do that so many of us leaving it behind. It is noble that bitcoin can feed someone in Venezuela as such. However so can many other cryptocurrencies. In fact i thought dash was the crypto with the foothold in Venezuela.. we should also consider that Venezuela the people who need to gain crypto the most aren't the people who benefit. These fraud venezuelans who come in here daily often times aren't the people suffering the most. It's been research and studies done on often times these are the richer venezuelans just taking advantage of arbitrage between nation state currencies.
Here's the deal if cryptocurrency is really worried about if a father in Venezuela eats today and if crypto is a use case or cause of he does eat. You know what crypto would be doing? They would be championing ubi projects that act as currencies and actually are designed to do that. Projects like Good Dollar or Bitcoinmyk.com.. projects that have this as a problem to solve. Instead of treating crypto like a casino gambling ponzi scheme of hot potatoe.
They wouldn't be pushing for manipulative coins in which 87% of the network is owned by 1% and there are still yet very few beneficiaries to care. That is what bitcoin has become. This has become a wallstreet toy now. I know bitcoin maximalist and investors don't like to hear that. That's what it is and we have evidence that's what it is.
So people will champion bitcoin when bitcoin champions them. People will make the tradeoffs when bitcoin has proven it can be useful to the people. Really be useful. Even in the store of value idea thats a weak argument .. There are coins in the space designed to be store of value coins and i don't believe bitcoin in the future will be able to stand on it's network effect. Seeing that's all it really has. So i have to respectfully disagree that any of us are energy experts or engineers to the point we've done enough hands on research as to really know what the damaging impact is. You also have to remember if bitcoin plans to be the global dominate currency its gotta get even bigger than it is now. So no i don't think it makes any sense to keep pushing that when there is no reason to. Blockchain doesn't go back into the ether if bitcoin dissapears. If bitcoin dissapears its just a cryptocurrency and a blockchain we don't have anymore. The space will go on.
