Yes this is what they call the Trace Mayer argument. He's a bitcoin pioneer who argued that saying bitcoin is not really what we mean by the blockchain and cryptocurrency is a copout. In other words there is no other significant working example at the level of bitcoin. That bitcoin the cryptocurrency and the blockchain is the same code. That the currency contains the utxo's and all this and it is the chain etc.,
So its alot to unpack there but i'll just say this about it. Okay one big use they keep looking at is using blockchain tech for voting.. Foreign powers can use voting systems and opposing political groups to control the politics of countries. So obviously we find a way to deal with that will be a pretty big problem solved.
Now much of the identification and digital id systems that are occuring now are occuring on ethereum not bitcoin. So then we speak of logistical authentication systems etc., and again you probably looking more at ethereum or some ethereum like platform to be implemented into this as well as in the significant uses of blockchain tech those are probably some of the bigger more useful problems to solve.
As far as currency it would least likely i think want to be bitcoin because bitcoin would make a terrible currency. As far as store of value and deflation again ethereum is now creating a deflationary structure that may roll out in a few months that may prove to be even more deflationary than btc.. So you talking about systems and products that can even act potentially as better sov's than bitcoin.
So i'm not saying bitcoin becomes valueless. I think btc will still hold value but clearly i don't believe btc will hold 100k value or 250k value or a million bucks i don't believe anything remotely close to that will occur in bitcoin. I think it will remain like a collectors item or nft or something in that idea. However it won't be a serious system for us in the near future.. i just don't see how it could be. .there is nothing logical that can justify it beyond it just standing on brand and network effect which is important but i mean tech always finds a way to win out.. it just does.
