Yes OneCoin was a very successful scam. Probably the biggest so far in crypto and it occured around bitcoin. So the public opinion of cryptocurrency still ranges in areas of scam simply because of the sheer size of the biggest scams around crypto pulled off.

I think this speaks to a bigger picture as well. It speaks to many people are jumping into crypto to make fast money and greed. This is where education and properly cryptocurrency advocacy is necessary. Unfortunately alot of crypto is just let's make fast money, moon and gamble.

The other part is many aren't scams just bad ideas, ideas circulating around businesses on the blockchain which i think is a bad idea this early in the game. I still believe infrastructure should be the focus and understanding the purpose of blockchain technology. Not let's find a quick project to moon in and so that creates many problems
