Yes i can enlighten you on why that is. So a tribe based on finance and cryptocurrency generally going to do well because the reality of the situation is our main goal for coming here was to earn on posts. That's our marketing gimmick and it gave us moderate success so in that idea it's not bad.
The problem is though it was an overpromised deal. Either way it got an audience here. Some were not impressed some remained behind. In any event a base was established. So there is a binding theme of earning and cryptocurrency and when you launch a project the safe call is to first launch it based around cryptocurrency in this space. I'll tell you why.
I don't just use hive and steem. I've actually explored out to just about every other decentralized social media site. I can tell you that many have purposely only let you present crypto topics first. After which they expanded to more general areas.
Why? .. because it's smarter in that people who understand crypto are more likely to use the site and are more likely to invest because they understand the process. It waste less resources and gives a better chance for funding and survival which is why everyone does it first.
If you compare to other tribes who try to go on another type of theme with maybe the exception of splinterlands. They have all pretty much failed. So the safe way is crypto and finance first .. get funding then branch out. If you look at something like pob..although i dont ship the inflation rate and mechanism of the pob algo.. not talking about the tribe but the algo. I do ship the tokenomics of pob deflation model and i'm assuming thats why it didn't die. Evenso it still depended more on a financial basis.
Ultimately though you still safely have an option at this point based on standing on the shoulders of giants. As to say the hive system developed from the steem system which means you already had an established base that can already safely do everything that tribes do. It's less risk you have more inclusion more options more bigger economy.
So i would assume whales are well if i'm going to engage. I really wanna do that with a more general audience because that represents the bigger chance of growth. If you take branding like leo-finance thats sure to move some money. However is it sure to have significant growth? Well all specific category projects are going to be limited to who their base is. We know not everyone in the world is focused on financial products.
We know people wanna engage with their art with their humanitarian endeavors .. with their science and self help etc., So a general themed engagement interface obviously going to have more of that and attract more people overall. Can rebranding change that. Perhaps..and sometimes its just better to stick where you have had some moderate success some areas are probably not the best idea to compete in. So all that has to be weighed.
