Axie Infinity went through significant changes last week. Axie Infinity V2 will no longer pay SLP to players for winning their matches, this will SEVERELY reduce the amount of SLP printed daily. Players that wish to keep earning will have to switch over to Axie Infinity Origin and start to climb the ranked ladder from the bottom. The first few ranks only reward moon shards for winning and SLP rewards only start once players reach the Boar IV rank.

Burning SLP

The Sky Mavis team finally introduced a much needed extra burning mechanism to the SLP token! In order to craft certain types of Runes and charms, players will have to burn SLP.

Runes and charms are crucial to improving your Axies and their attacks. You will not be able to climb the ranking leader without crafting and equipping some decent Runes and Charms.

Players will also have the option to turn their Runes and Charms into NFTS so that they can sell them on the market. Doing so will also have some cost to the players.
There will be a lot of incentives for players to spend SLP crafting to try to get valuable Runes and Charms to later sell on the market.

Some runes and charms become useless after the season is over. Once the new season starts players will have to burn SLP once again to get new Runes and Charms, this season resets add some long-term sustainability to the SLP price. There are some runes that you will be able to use forever, across multiple seasons but I'm not very familiar with the inner workings of Runes and Charms yet.

Future of Axie

Sky Mavis mentioned that there will be some additional burning mechanisms, one of them is the possibility to upgrade axie's body parts using SLP. We still need more details about what the team is planning but it is very comforting to see them address the oversupply of SLP issue that is destroying the game.

Good tokenomics is crucial for any project but so is having a good and enjoyable game. I've been playing Axie Infinity Origin for the past few days and I can't get enough of it! In fact, I liked it so much I decided to buy some new axies so that I can be more competitive. The gameplay is way better than the previous version of axie and that will make a lot of people come back to the game and reinvest into new axies just like I did. It also helps incentivize old players to stay around by keeping things fresh and evolving.

Players can now start playing axie infinity completely for free, just to try out the game and see how they like it. Earning with a free-to-play account is also possible but it is very limited. I recommend everyone who likes play2earn to give Axie infinity a try!
