I concur, our past and environment shape us more than we at times like to acknowledge.

I just recently started on that journey, trying to find that lost self, make peace with my past, get to fully comprehend why I manifest some behaviours and finally get to reintegrate that to who I am.

I think the ego sometimes is too big to even realize that which we don't really know, definitely requires courage to go through the destruction of the perceived self in order to create a new more anchored and aware self.
