How is it used?

At the bottom right of the screen, a large red button with the icon of a camera allows you to start your own retransmission at any time. You are given a title (or not) and the recording starts. During the retransmission we can see the messages of other users who can interact with us. Or give us 'likes', which in the case of this application come in the form of hearts

Eye, in the lower part you have a menu that offers the possibility of activating the geolocation, defining the rules of the chat during the broadcast (if you want anyone to write to you or just your followers) and activate or deactivate the notification on Twitter; that is, to be seen in Timeline.

Privacy:

One of the features that most like Periscope that offers the possibility of private retransmissions between two users. When starting the broadcast, the option is given that it is public, for all our followers and published on our Timeline, or private, only for those who choose. Of course, if you do not turn off the Twitter notification your followers will know that you are maintaining that private 'streaming'.

Porn and explicit sex:

Periscope has a problem with images with explicit sexual content. There are many profiles that take advantage of streaming to broadcast naked or directly pornographic images, although these uses are explicitly prohibited in the conditions of use of the application.

What's up with the videos?

The videos you record have a term of 24 hours in which you can view them online. Then they are deleted.

Meerkat, the alternative:

There are some alternatives to Periscope, among them the best known is Meerkat. Although it was launched before, since it was not integrated with Twitter (it does not allow the inclusion of followers' lists), its dissemination was more limited. Videos can be saved on the phone, but they are not stored in the application.
