Weyer Castle, Graz Surroundings

Yesterday I made a little trip to Weyer Castle in Röthelstein. I wanted to get a first impression about this place, even though it was rainy. Nevertheless, I was thrilled and will definitely come here again and also take a little more time.

The castle was built at the beginning of the 13th century by the Rabensteins. The next owners were the Counts of Pfannberg, who had the castle expanded into a moated castle. The castle often changed owners and was also rebuilt many times. Since 1872 it has been owned by the Mayr-Melnhof family, who had the castle restored and established a retirement home for the employees of their company. Now the castle has been rebuilt and prepared in such a way that there are only apartments in it.

The castle is not far from Frohnleiten, but it still enjoys an isolated location. While walking around the castle you can already feel a deep peace at this place. Probably it is a little longer cold here in winter, because all around are many mountains.
The castle walls, also the remains of water around the castle make this place special for me. Wonderful old trees are in the castle garden and around.
To come to rest, as well as to draw strength from nature, I could do yesterday here at this place.

## Schloss Weyer, Graz-Umgebung

Gestern habe ich einen kleinen Ausflug zum Schloss Weyer in Röthelstein gemacht. Ich wollte einen ersten Eindruck über diesen Platz bekommen, auch wenn es regnerisch war. Trotzdem war ich begeistert und werde bestimmt noch einmal hierher kommen und mir auch etwas mehr Zeit nehmen.

Das Schloss wurde zu Beginn des 13. Jahrhundert von den Rabensteinern erbaut. Die nächsten Besitzer waren die Grafen von Pfannberg, welche das Schloss zu einer Wasserburg ausbauen ließen.
Schloss Weyer wechselte oft die Besitzer und wurde auch noch oft umgebaut. Seit 1872 ist es im Besitz der Familie Mayr-Melnhof, die das Schloss restaurieren ließ und ein Altersheim für die Mitarbeiter ihres Betriebs einrichtete. Jetzt ist das Schloss so umgebaut und hergerichtet, dass sich ausschließlich Wohnungen darin befinden.

Das Schloss ist nicht weit von Frohnleiten entfernt, denn noch genießt es eine Alleinlage.
Während des Spaziergangs rund um das Schloss lässt sich schon eine tiefe Ruhe dieses Ortes erspüren. Wahrscheinlich ist es hier im Winter etwas länger kalt, da rundum viele Berge sind.
Die Schlossmauern, auch die Reste des Wassers rund um die Burg machen diesen Ort für mich besonders. Wunderbare alte Bäume befinden sich im Schlossgarten und rund herum. Zur Ruhe kommen, sowie Kraft aus der Natur schöpfen, das konnte ich gestern hier an diesem Platz.
