I was a freshie in the Uni when I came home shocked and excited at the sight of a very active puppy. He was one of the offspring of our neighbour's dog and they allowed us to adopt it, lest the dog has a home rather than it turned out to be a street dog.

Chillin'

His name is Maxy! My father named him but I didn't like it. I renamed him, Molly, because I was so engrossed at that time with Nicholas Sparks' The Notebook. I'm not sure if it was it but there is a Nicholas Sparks movie wherein the dog's name is Molly.

Molly was so cute and I love him. He would wiggle his tail every time he sees me. He barks cute and loudly even when he's little. It was my sister who is very fond of him. She would bathe him and she's in charge of feeding him. Molly also became dad's favourite too. He's a buddy. He would accompany my father to the farm. Sometimes, they would sleep there. Sometimes, my father would let him stay there to guard some important stuff. Yes, he is responsible. Every time my father sets to leave the house, he would get ready too and sometimes even lead the way.

Molly is mom's favourite too because he goes to church with us. He would lie down on the floor. Sometimes he sleeps, sometimes he snores. But he doesn't leave until we leave. Our doggie was a churchgoer. We are proud of him. He caught snakes and rats in the yard too. He kept us safe and away from harm. That's our Molly.

He has been a wonderful buddy. He's like the youngest sibling we had. We lost him a week after supertyphoon Odette hit the country. He was able to survive the flood and the strong winds during the onset of the typhoon. He was there when everything was already calm and sunny. He barked and asked for food and lick my dad's fingers. But after a week, Molly was nowhere to be found. He never comes home. We waited for him and seek his presence. Only to find out that he is already lying lifeless near the dike.

Molly died a natural death. Of old age. There weren't any signs of cuts and poisoning. He was weak before his death. He no longer accompanied my father at the farm. He doesn't have an appetite even when he is served his favourite goodies. He just wanted to lie down and go be a pet.

It just so happened that he didn't let us see him when his soul left his body. He hid and he never bid goodbye.

Thanks for your time. Until the next read!
