1- We carry out a visual inspection, and the first thing we notice is that the phone's battery is somewhat swollen. So, we have already found the first problem: the reason why the phone no longer turns on, even though it happened suddenly, is its battery. Therefore, the first thing we recommend to the customer is that she replace that battery, since this process is very dangerous and could eventually damage her phone.

This is something we commonly see in our workshop. A swollen lithium battery clearly indicates a buildup of gases inside it, caused by the decomposition of the electrolyte. Battery deterioration is associated with many factors: intensive use involving charging and discharging at the same time, the battery reaching the end of its useful life due to normal use, and also the use of low-quality generic chargers that cause irregular charging.

1- This case can specifically be resolved by replacing the battery; however, we don't have the replacement part in the workshop. Given the customer's situation, as she will be traveling in a few hours and has no other alternative, we will apply an emergency solution based on draining the gases from the battery. This is the second time we have applied this solution in the workshop, although we do not support it because of the risks involved. Still, it may help her get by for a few days while she travels and replaces the battery.

2- The first thing we will do is open the phone. We carefully detach the back cover using a small X-ray film plate.

We place it in the phone, connect it, and measure the voltage with our multimeter. We now get a reading of 4.08 V. We can see that it no longer protrudes beyond the frame.

We turn on the phone, and there we go, it has powered on. All that remains is to clean the adhesive residue from the cover, apply new adhesive, and close it.
