⚡🛠️ Realme Phone with a Detached Screen and Huawei with Very Low Volume.
Good evening, dear Hive readers, good evening @geekzone.
Buenas noches, estimados lectores de Hive, buenas noches
@geekzone.
Let's take a look at two relatively simple cases in the following post. A Realme phone with a completely detached display, and a Huawei phone whose speaker volume is very low. We will go through the steps of how to proceed in each case.
REALME WITH A DETACHED DISPLAY
REALME CON DISPLAY DESPEGADO
Over time, due to the high temperatures in our country, perhaps combined with the poor quality of the original factory screen adhesive, we frequently encounter cases of phones with completely detached screens. This is something the customer could do themselves, provided they have the right adhesive and know how to proceed.
1- The first thing we do is a visual inspection. In this case, we can clearly see that the display is completely detached.
2- Most displays in modern mobile phones have the flex cable at the bottom. If we are unsure where the flex cable is located, we look up the display for that specific model on the web. In our case, it is at the bottom, so we carefully separate the display by 1 to 1.5 centimeters on the side opposite the flex cable, that is, the upper part.
3- We insert a thin object between the frame and the separated display to keep them apart, and carefully clean the edge of the display if there is any adhesive residue. In our case, this was not necessary.
4- We apply black T-7000 adhesive all around the edge of the screen, except for the upper-right area where we can see the sensors.
5- We turn the phone over and separate the screen from the frame by about 3 to 4 millimeters at the bottom. This is the most sensitive area, since this is where the display flex cable and backlight are located. If we are not careful, we can ruin the screen. Some technicians leave this area without applying adhesive, since the adhesive on the sides and top is already enough to hold the screen in place.
6- Finally, we remove the object that was keeping the screen separated from the frame, position it correctly, and secure it with a screen clamp or rubber bands for about two or three hours. And that's it.
These cases, where we have to reattach a screen that is still functional, can be even more complicated than installing a new screen. In the latter case, the adhesive is applied directly to the frame instead of applying it to the edge of the display.
HUAWEI PHONE WITH VERY LOW SPEAKER VOLUME
MÓVIL HUAWEI SE ESCUCHA MUY BAJO
DIAGNOSIS
DIAGNÓSTICO
1- When a phone has no sound or the speaker volume is too low, we always try to check the volume settings on the phone first. In this case, they are already at maximum, but the phone is still very quiet. There are three possible faults in these situations, listed from least to most complex: the speaker may be damaged, one of its two lines may be broken, or, in the worst-case scenario, there may be a fault in the audio codec itself.
2- To access the speaker, we open the phone. This model has the speaker at the top, where the main board is located. Generally, speakers are located at the bottom of the subboard.
3- Now, using our multimeter in diode mode, we will take reference readings at the board contacts that supply voltage to the speaker. We measure the readings and obtain a value of 0.479 V at one contact and 0.454 V at the other. This indicates that the lines are not broken and that these readings are correct.
4- Next, we measure the resistance directly across the speaker. Here, the values should be between 8 and 32 ohms. We do this by placing one multimeter probe on one speaker contact and the other probe on the opposite contact, regardless of polarity. As a result, we obtained 6.6 ohms, a low value indicating that this speaker has suffered wear due to moisture or an internal partial short circuit. So this is the diagnosis: the speaker is damaged.
REPAIR
REPARACIÓN
1- The repair is relatively simple. We look for a speaker with the same contact configuration as the damaged one, one that also fits into the designated opening and, of course, has the correct impedance. We already have the replacement, and its measured resistance is 8.4 ohms. So we close the phone, test it, and that's it. Problem solved.
Problema resuelto.
When the fault is in the speaker itself, it saves us a lot of headaches during the repair, because all we have to do is replace it with another one. We have already seen a case here involving an A21s, where we had to install a jumper to solve the problem through the flex cable. That repair was a little more complicated. In that case, the speaker itself was in good condition; there was simply a broken line.
