Lake Laut Tawar is a lake and tourist area located in the Gayo Highlands, Central Aceh District, Aceh Province, Indonesia. On the west side of the lake there is a regency town, Takengon city, which is the capital of Central Aceh Regency.
Gayo tribe called this lake as Lake Lut Tawar. Lake Laut Tawar which covers 70 km2 is one of the local and international tourist destinations.
Weather conditions in the lake are in the range of 16 to 30 degrees Celsius.
