"Having good personal habits protects your reputation."
Interesting choice of words.
The strange little number attached to your name that supposedly tells everyone how valuable you are before they even bother finding out.
In the real world, reputation comes from what people actually experience from you. On Hive, reputation is a measurement created by the system. That number is influenced by votes, stake, and recognition from other people inside that same system. Sometimes they overlap. Sometimes they don't.
A person can have a massive reputation score and still destroy it in a single conversation if enough people decide they crossed an invisible line. Or. Lt even enough people since this is a stake weighted game, it only takes just one character who just isn't having it.
And then what protects that reputation?
Good manners?
Polite words?
Years of carefully maintaining a mask?
Or was reputation never really measuring the person?
Perhaps it was measuring how well that person existed inside the expectations of the people doing the measuring. A whale can have thousands of dollars of influence behind their name, a history of helpful posts, and a reputation built over years. But ask the wrong question. Challenge the wrong assumption. Scratch the paint. Suddenly that reputation becomes very fragile.
Funny how something that represents trust can disappear the moment trust is questioned, and that is precisely what has happened repeatedly by the putocrats of Hive. The ones who claim there are no authorities.
Only people with enough influence to decide what behavior protects your reputation.
"Fixing your own habits is the first big step."
Fixing.
Another interesting choice of words.
It assumes the individual is the broken part. Seems almost a couple days ago I wrote about this very thing.
The only thing left is for the user to adjust themselves until they fit properly inside it.
"How do I help the whole platform grow?"
Grow into what? Most people don't even know it's origin story much less know what hive really is beneath all it's apps covering up it's body like jewelry and fashion wear.
But since were talking about it, a platform does not only grow through those who build. It also grows through those who question what is being built.
The uncomfortable person pointing at the crack in the wall is often considered less useful than the person who brings paint.

The system is already there. The structure is already accepted. The only thing left is for the user to adjust themselves until they fit properly inside it.
